摘要:In this presentation, Martin seeks to review some of the outstanding developments on the generalization of extremum seeking control as a potential alternative to existing data-driven techniques. In particular, it is shown how one can apply this technique to design reliable control systems that require only limited knowledge of the process dynamics. The results will seek to address some of the limitations of the proposed data driven approach. New areas of research are identified to fully realize the potential of ESC as a data driven control approach     


Martin Guay:Prof. Guay received Queen’s University Chancellor Research Award in 2006 to pursue work on the development of real-time optimization systems.  In 2005, Dr. Guay received the Premier Research Excellence Award for his work in the area of control of manufacturing systems and real-time decision-making support. He received the Syncrude Innovation Award in 2008 at the Canadian Chemical Engineering Conference for ``outstanding contribution to the field of chemical engineering.  In 2018, he was awarded the D.G. Fisher Award from the Canadian Society of Chemical Engineers for his outstanding contribution to the Control and Systems division. Dr. Guay’s scholarly activities have been significant. Since 2002, he has served as Associate Editor for Automatica. He is also Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control. He is the Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Process Control and Senior Editor for the IEEE Control Systems Society Letters. He is also a review editor for the Canadian Chemical Engineering Journal and Associate Editor for the IFAC Journal Nonlinear Analysis and Hybrid Systems. He has served as model-based control area co-chair at two IFAC ADCHEM symposium (Brazil and Singapore). He was International program co-chair for the 2015 IFAC ADCHEM symposium in Whistler, BC.  He has also served as International Program Committee member for international conferences including IFAC DYCOPS, IFAC ADCHEM, IFAC NOLCOS, IFAC World Congress and many others. Since 2012, Dr. Guay has been consulting with Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories in Cambridge, MA. This collaboration has led to very fruitful technological developments in the area of heating and cooling systems and extremum-seeking control. Dr. Guay's excellence in undergraduate teaching was recently recognized by a Golden Apple Teaching Award which is awarded every year by the Applied Science Undergraduate Student association at Queen’s University.
